Pottinger Street is located in Central, Hong Kong. It is also known as the Stone Slabs Street by the locals. The street was named after Henry Pottinger, the first Governor of Hong Kong, in 1858. It has been selected as a Grade I Historic Building by the Antiques and Monuments Ordinance.
The street connects Hollywood Road and Connaught Road Central. Granite stone slabs were used on pavement to modify the steep section between Queen's Road Central and Hollywood Road. The stone steps help facilitate walking and rainwater drainage to the two sides. The nickname Stone Slabs Street becomes widely used after the road repair.
